Bio

Sean Bruce is Louisiana based folk musician whose songwriting has earned a fan base in a region fully lathered in zydeco and cajun music. Treading the waters, he manages to remain consistent performing year round with three albums modestly pinned to his name.

Sean released his debut album Daytime Hopes in April 2011. “I didn’t have many songs when I decided to start working on that record. I was drawn in naturally and influenced by my surroundings keeping me interested in who I am and where I was.” Since, he has toured across the southern region of the U.S. playing festivals, venues, coffee shops, and house concerts. In 2012, Sean was invited to play About.com’s “Best World Music Festival”, Festival International de Louisiane. Two weeks prior, he earned a spot on the BMI Songwriter’s Stage at French Quarter Festival in New Orleans. In 2013, he won a national songwriter competition hosted by Denver based company, LARABAR. Most recently, he has been invited to New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and also accepted an invitation to BMI’s Keywest Songwriter’s Festival. Sean’s presence in music and connection to his fan base has earned him support slots for national artist such as Gregory Alan Isakov, Todd Snider, Amanda Shires, Mandolin Orange, Anders Osborne, and Marc Broussard.

His musical influences include legends such as Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan. He combines these melodic influences with the styles of writers like Ray Bradbury and Robert Frost. Armed with an acoustic guitar and a harmonica, Bruce has an uncanning ability to combine story and song, which has garnered credit from Grammy Award winning songwriter, David Egan: “This is truly inspired, brilliant and beautiful.”

Bruce’s latest album, Staring at Maps, was record in 10 various locations through out South Louisiana. “The musicianship on “Staring at Maps” is tasteful and understated, with banjo rolls and arena-sized drums effectively peppering the record.” Offbeat Magazine (New Orleans), Rory Callais.

Staring at Maps was released as two EP’s. Part 1 in Nov. 2014 and Part 2 in May 2016

Sean recently graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a bachelors in Music Business. He runs and operates his own independent music label, Norwood Recording Co.
